Chase Card
A chase card is the most sought-after card in a set — the pull collectors are hoping for when they open packs, and usually the most expensive.
Every set has one or two cards that define it: the chase card is the one everybody is opening packs to find. It is usually a Special Illustration Rare or alternate art of a fan-favorite Pokémon, and its price typically towers over the rest of the set.
Chase status is decided by the community, not by the printed rarity — a card with beloved artwork can out-price technically rarer cards from the same set. A practical nuance: chase cards often drive the price of sealed product too, since a set with a strong chase keeps packs and boxes in demand long after release.
