Reverse Holo

A reverse holo flips the usual foil treatment: the frame, text box, and background shimmer, while the illustration window is printed normally. Almost every modern booster pack includes exactly one reverse holo, so any common, uncommon, or rare in a set can exist in this variant.

Because every card in a set gets a reverse holo print, most of them are inexpensive — but reverse holos of popular Pokémon or key trainers can be noticeably pricier than their regular versions. Some sets also use special reverse patterns, like the Poké Ball and Master Ball foils in Japanese 151, which replace the standard pattern. Compare with a regular holo, where only the art is foil.
