Playset

A playset is four copies of the same card — the maximum number allowed in a deck — bought together by players building competitive decks.

A playset means four copies of a card, matching the deck-building rule that allows up to four cards with the same name (basic Energy excepted). When players say they need "a playset of" something, they mean all four.

Playsets shape the singles market: tournament staples get bought four at a time, so their demand — and price movement around big events — is amplified compared to collector cards bought as one-ofs. Sellers often list complete playsets at a small discount per card. A nuance for players on a budget: a playset only needs the cheapest legal print, so grabbing four Double Rares instead of fancy versions of the same card can cut a deck's cost dramatically.
