Misprint

A misprint is a manufacturing accident affecting an individual card: miscut edges showing part of the neighboring card, stray ink dots, holo foil bleeding outside the art box, factory crimps from the pack-sealing machine, or heavily off-center printing.

Unlike a set-wide error card, each misprint is essentially unique, which makes pricing subjective — dramatic, visually striking misprints on popular cards can attract dedicated collectors, while minor flaws usually just lower a card's grade and price. One practical caution: grading companies treat most misprints as defects, so a misprinted card will rarely score well unless submitted under special error-card designations. Photograph misprints carefully when selling; the flaw is the product.
